about
20 kms northwest of Wagga Wagga, NSW, Australia lies Marrar, a tiny town, a perfect venue to play music to the sky. If you are lucky you just might catch a partial lunar eclipse. Many thanks to Rob Moss who’s home and Song For The Moon informed my writing.
lyrics
Well it’s four below zero in Marrar tonight,
I’m flat on my back laying in the moonlight,
and I’m thinking way back to the night before,
when we toasted the fires roar, yeah we toasted the fires roar.
You say the moon is non-verbal but ive heard her cry
“I’ll put on a show for you bastards tonight”
then she eclipsed and then she eclipsed.
But she must have been kind of shy, cause she only blinked half an eye.
At the dawn of the day we were mourning the stars,
then they were replaced by a million galahs,
we mucked around while you played your guitars,
and I said “hey watch this Trude, its my impression of the moon”
then I eclipsed, then I eclipsed,
but I must have been kind of high, cause I just couldn’t wipe this smile.
From Marrar to Wagga to Walwa to you,
ill drive seven hours to the smog and the gloom
and my shed in Brunswick doesn’t have a great view,
but I can still see the Marrar moon, ill light a fire and think of you,
think of you the Marrar moon.
But she must have been kind of shy, cause she only blinked half an eye
and I must have been kind of high, cause I just couldn’t wipe this smile
